You stop worrying about basement leaks every time it rains. Your foundation stays dry and stable. The wood trim around your roofline doesn’t rot out from water sitting where it shouldn’t.
Scotch Plains gets hit with heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 50 mph during storm season. Add the fact that this area has more trees than 85% of the country, and your gutters are working overtime. When they’re clogged or damaged, water backs up under your shingles, pools around your foundation, and seeps into places that cost serious money to fix.
Proper gutter replacement means you’re not patching the same problems every year. You’re not climbing ladders to clear debris every month. You’re not dealing with water stains on your siding or erosion around your landscaping. The system does what it’s supposed to do—move water away from your home, quietly and consistently.
We specialize in exterior work—roofing, siding, and gutters. We’re licensed, insured, and we’ve been serving Scotch Plains and Union County since we started. That’s not a sales pitch. It’s just what we do.
We don’t charge for estimates or inspections. We show up, assess what’s going on, and give you a straightforward answer about what needs to happen. If your gutters can be repaired, we’ll tell you. If they need to be replaced, we’ll explain why and what it’ll cost.
Most of our work comes from referrals and reviews. People hire us because we’re clear about pricing, we show up when we say we will, and the work holds up. We’re a family-owned company, and we’re not interested in overselling you or disappearing after the job’s done.
First, we come out and inspect your current system. We’re looking at the condition of the gutters, how water’s draining, whether your fascia boards are damaged, and if your downspouts are positioned correctly. We measure everything and take notes on what’s failing and why.
Then we walk you through what we found. You’ll get a written estimate that breaks down materials, labor, and any repairs to wood or trim that need to happen before new gutters go up. We’ll recommend the right material for your home—usually aluminum for durability and cost—and explain options like gutter guards if you’re tired of cleaning them out twice a year.
Once you approve the estimate, we schedule the install. We remove your old gutters, make any necessary fascia repairs, and install the new system with proper pitch and secure mounting. Downspouts get positioned to move water at least five feet away from your foundation. We test the flow, clean up completely, and haul away the old materials. Start to finish, most homes are done in a day or two.

You’re getting a complete removal of your old gutter system—gutters, downspouts, brackets, and any damaged fascia boards that need replacing before the new system goes up. We’re not patching over problems. We’re starting fresh.
The new system is typically seamless aluminum, which means fewer joints and less chance of leaks. It’s custom-fitted to your roofline, pitched correctly so water doesn’t pool, and mounted securely to handle the weight of heavy rain and wet leaves. In Scotch Plains, where storms can drop several inches of rain in a short window, that pitch and capacity matter.
Downspouts are positioned based on your property’s drainage needs. If water’s been pooling near your foundation or flooding your landscaping, we adjust placement to fix that. We can also add extensions or underground drains if your yard requires it. Some homeowners add gutter guards to cut down on maintenance—especially useful here, where falling leaves and seeds are constant. We’ll walk you through whether that makes sense for your property and budget. Most installations come with a labor warranty and material warranties that run five to ten years, depending on what you choose.
Most homeowners in Scotch Plains pay between $1,200 and $2,500 for a full gutter replacement on a standard single-family home. That range depends on the size of your house, the material you choose, and whether fascia boards need repair before new gutters go up.
Aluminum is the most common choice and runs $6 to $12 per linear foot installed. A typical home has around 150 to 200 linear feet of gutter, so you’re looking at $900 to $2,400 just for materials and labor. If your fascia is rotted or damaged, add another $300 to $800 depending on how much needs replacing.
Copper costs more—$15 to $30 per linear foot—but lasts longer and doesn’t rust. Vinyl is cheaper upfront but cracks in cold weather, which is why we don’t recommend it for homes in New Jersey. If you want gutter guards installed at the same time, that’s another $5 to $10 per linear foot. We give you a written estimate after inspecting your home so there’s no guessing.
If you’re seeing rust holes, large cracks, or sections pulling away from the house, you’re likely past the point of repair. Same goes if water’s pouring over the sides during rain or you’ve got visible sagging between brackets.
Small leaks at seams can sometimes be patched. A few loose brackets can be reattached. But if your gutters are 15 to 20 years old and showing multiple issues, you’re better off replacing them. Patching old gutters usually buys you a year or two at most, and you’ll spend money on repairs that could’ve gone toward a new system.
Another sign is water damage on your fascia boards or siding. That means water’s been getting behind the gutters for a while, which often indicates the system isn’t draining properly or is too damaged to function. We’ll inspect the whole setup and tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or if replacement makes more sense. We don’t upsell—if a repair works, we’ll do that.
Aluminum is the best choice for most homes here. It doesn’t rust, it handles New Jersey’s freeze-thaw cycles without cracking, and it’s strong enough to support the weight of wet leaves and heavy rain. It’s also the most cost-effective option that still lasts 20 to 25 years with minimal maintenance.
Seamless aluminum is even better because it’s custom-formed on-site to fit your roofline, which means fewer seams and fewer places for leaks to start. You can get it in different thicknesses—.027 inch is standard, but .032 inch is thicker and more durable if you’ve got a lot of tree coverage.
Copper is an option if you want something that lasts 50+ years and develops a patina over time, but it costs two to three times more than aluminum. Steel is strong but rusts unless it’s galvanized, and even then it’s heavier and harder to work with. Vinyl is cheap but it cracks in cold weather and doesn’t hold up to the kind of storms we get here. We install aluminum for most projects because it’s the right balance of cost, durability, and performance.
Most single-family homes take one to two days. Smaller homes or straightforward layouts can be done in a day. Larger homes, multi-story properties, or homes with complex rooflines might take two to three days.
The process starts with removing your old gutters and inspecting the fascia boards. If we find rot or damage, we repair that first—it adds time but it’s necessary for the new gutters to mount securely. Then we install the new system, making sure everything’s pitched correctly and downspouts are positioned to drain away from your foundation.
Weather can delay things. We don’t install gutters in heavy rain or high winds because the work needs to be precise and safe. If we’re scheduled and a storm rolls through, we’ll reschedule rather than rush it. Once we start, though, the job moves quickly. We clean up completely, haul away the old materials, and test the system before we leave.
It depends on how much tree coverage you have and how often you’re willing to clean your gutters. Scotch Plains has more trees than most of the country, which means leaves, seeds, and debris are constantly falling. If you’re cleaning your gutters three or four times a year, gutter guards will cut that down significantly.
Gutter guards aren’t perfect—they still need occasional maintenance—but they keep out the bulk of the debris and reduce clogs. That means less standing water, fewer mosquitoes, and less chance of overflow during heavy rain. They also extend the life of your gutters by reducing the weight and moisture sitting inside them.
The cost is $5 to $10 per linear foot installed, so for a typical home, you’re adding $750 to $2,000 to your project. Some homeowners do it right away. Others wait and add them later if they realize they’re climbing ladders more than they want to. We’ll walk you through the options and let you decide what makes sense for your property and budget.
If your basement flooding is caused by water pooling around your foundation, then yes—new gutters with properly positioned downspouts can make a big difference. Gutters are designed to collect roof runoff and move it away from your house. When they’re clogged, damaged, or draining too close to the foundation, that water soaks into the ground right next to your basement walls.
During a gutter replacement, we make sure downspouts are extended at least five feet away from the foundation, and we can add underground drains if your yard slopes toward the house. That keeps water from saturating the soil around your basement and seeping through cracks or seams.
If your basement flooding is caused by groundwater, a high water table, or foundation cracks, gutters alone won’t fix it—you’ll need a sump pump, interior drainage, or foundation repair. But in a lot of cases, especially in areas like Scotch Plains where storms dump several inches of rain quickly, gutters are the first line of defense. We’ll assess your drainage situation during the estimate and let you know if gutters will solve the problem or if you need to address other issues too.
